VSE File Pirate is a tool that extracts sounds, pictures, icons and text from all your games, applications and documents.
You already own tons of pictures, dozens of sounds and an uncountable number of icons. They are hidden inside your files. VSE File Pirate will find those hidden treasures for you!

It's really easy to find the hidden treasures:
1.
Find an interesting file for VSE File Pirate. For a start, it is a good idea to take the "Games" folder of a shareware CD-ROM.
2.
Drag that folder (or a file) onto the VSE File Pirate icon.
That's all there is to do. VSE File Pirate will automatically scan your files and present the captured goods. If you find a sound, a pictures, a text or an icon that you like (and we're sure you will), you can save it by clicking the "Save as..." button. If you want to scan additional files or folders, simply drag them to the VSE File Pirate window.
It's that easy!
Example:
You like the "You've got mail!" sound from AOL but you want to use Outlook Express for your e-mails.
Simply drag the AOL application to VSE File Pirate. VSE File Pirate will scan the AOL application and present the "You've got mail!" sound.
Save this sound within VSE File Pirate on your hard disk and move it to the "System" file inside the System folder.
Now you can select the "You've got mail!" sound within Outlook Express as a sound for incoming mail.
It's that easy!
Easter Eggs:
An "easter egg" is any amusing tidbit that creators hide in their creations. They can be in computer software, movies, music, art, books, or even your watch. There are thousands of them, and they can be quite entertaining, if you know where to look.
Even in Apple software, there are a lot of easter eggs. VSE File Pirate will help you to find them. If you don't know where to look, download Apple Easter Eggs 1.4 compiled by Daniel Fanton:
VSE File Pirate scans the so-called resource fork of all Macintosh files. It only finds data that is stored in the resource fork. Some (not many) applications can contain images or sounds that are not stored in the resource fork. In that case VSE File Pirate cannot find them.
Is it legal to use the extracted resources (e.g. pictures and sounds)?
In general, it is legal to use the extracted resources for your private purposes. It is often illegal to use them for commercial reasons without asking permission from the original authors first. These principles may vary from country to country. For example, it might be illegal to use the "You've got mail" sound from AOL in Outlook Express in your state. You have to first inform you about your rights to distribute, publish and use the extracted resources in your own projects.

Grant of license:
The Authors grant you a non-exclusive license for the use of the Software as follows. You may either: a) Install the Software on multiple computers, provided that they are owned solely by you, and not simultaneously. b) Install the Software on a single computer, which may be used by different users from time to t i me, but not simultaneously. If the Software is to be used by more than one user under option (a) above or on more than one computer under option (b) above, you must purchase a number of copies (or multi-user package representing multiple copies [site license]) equal to the number of users under option (a) or the number of Computers under option (b).
Copy restrictions:
Ownership of the legal rights contained in the Software remains solely with The Authors. Distribution rights:

The Software is not to be included with any commercial software or any public domain/shareware package sold for profit without proper written consent from The Authors.
